Beginner Tips

Core concepts every new player should know

In Slay the Spire 2, skipping cards is often the right play. A lean deck draws key cards more consistently than a bloated one.

Remove Strikes first, then Defends. Your character-specific cards are almost always better.

Act 1 enemies hit hard and fast. Take strong Attack cards early, transition to scaling in Act 2.

Enemies telegraph their moves with intents. Learn the patterns to optimize your block timing.

Don't hoard potions. Using them to take 0 damage in a fight is better than saving them "for later".

Elites give relics which are permanent upgrades. Fight as many as your HP allows.
